UNAC/UHCP is committed to helping improve our communities through community service. Our union has a long history of volunteerism—gifts of our labor and professionalism, in direct care, education and money for those in need. See below for some of our latest community service work.

KSDHCPA Delivers for Monarch School

Kaiser San Diego UNAC/UHCP members collected donations for 300 students and their families at the Monarch School as they prepare to begin their new school year in late August.

SPNN Provides Meals for San Diego Families

Sharp Professional Nurses Network (SPNN) members were out in the community on July 19 providing meals for families at Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego.

Barbara Owens: Retired but Just Getting Started

With her retirement approaching, Kaiser RN Barbara Owens began preparing to spend more time as a volunteer. She completed training for the Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, where children in the dependency system are paired with a trained advocate who makes recommendations to the court about their services and placement. She trained at a local animal shelter to volunteer weekly with dogs.

SPNN Partners with Surfrider Foundation for Healthy Beaches

SPNN participated in the Surfrider Foundation's annual Morning After Mess event - an effort that relies on volunteer groups to assist with beach cleanups after the July 4th holiday weekend.
