Making A Difference During Nurses Week

May 2017

UNAC/UHCP members all across Southern California gave back to their communities during Nurses Week. Here are some highlights from the week's events. For more information on our community service efforts, visit our Community Service page.

Kaiser Baldwin Park Registered Nurses Association (KBPRNA) members had an awesome time at their Nurses Week event! Members collected donations for Operation Gratitude, an organization that annually sends 200,000+ care packages to deployed troops, new recruits, veterans, first responders, wounded heroes, and their caregivers.

The Kaiser Downey Registered Nurses Association (KDRNA) General Membership Meeting on Saturday, May 6 was a Nurses Week celebration with birthday cake celebrating Florence Nightingale's 197th birthday!

KDRNA also collected money and personal items for the backpack project for the homeless in Downey. Nurses brought in soap, shampoo, body wash, toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, socks, high protein snacks and other useful items for the homeless population in Downey.

Kaiser Ontario Vineyard Health Care Professionals Association (KOVHCPA) members held a Sanitary Napkin Drive at their RN Day Celebration. Our union sisters and brothers give to others during a week intended to celebrate their profession!

Kaiser Riverside Health Care Professionals Association (KRHCPA) held a member celebration event to celebrate our accomplishments as health care professionals. The event marked the culmination of their months-long canned food drive. Rosie Fuentes, Board Member from Casa Blanca Home for Neighborly Services, was present to receive the donations.

There was much to celebrate and fun was had by all. Thanks to all who donated to the cause and worked to secure food donations these last few months!

Sharp Professional Nurses Network (SPNN) celebrated #NursesWeek2017 by collecting canned food for the National Association of Letter Carriers' 25th Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive at their general membership meeting. Throughout the week, nurses also distributed gifts to members by rounding and tabling to reach members at the various facilities.
