UNAC/UHCP is committed to helping improve our communities through community service. Our union has a long history of volunteerism—gifts of our labor and professionalism, in direct care, education and money for those in need. See below for some of our latest community service work.

UNAC/UHCP was recently honored with the Miguel Contreras Labor Award for our part in creating pathways out of poverty for families and improving the quality of life in Greater Los Angeles.

On August 17, KWHRNA officers, Staff rep, and Contract Specialist volunteered in the Westminster backpack drive. They gave school supplies and free vaccinations to the kids that need it the most.

Each year Project Shepherd accepts donations of new backpacks and school supplies and then distributes them to Lakewood families in need. On August 11, Lakewood Registered Nurses Association (LRNA) members dropped off donations at the Burns Community Center in Lakewood.

On August 2, 2016, RNs from St. Francis Registered Nurses Association (SFRNA) participated in the annual National Night Out event in Lynwood with the Sheriff's Department. Members provided health screenings to the community as part of an effort to strengthen relationships between community members and law enforcement.
