Working People’s Day of Action

February 2018

Tens of thousands of working people and their allies came together in 30 cities across the country on February 24 for the Working People's Day of Action to fight for decent and equitable pay, affordable health care, quality schools, vibrant communities and a secure future for all of us. The actions took place two days before the Supreme Court was scheduled to hear arguments in Janus vs. AFSCME, a case that is a direct attack on public sector workers.

UNAC/UHCP members and retirees joined thousands of union members in San Diego to send a clear message to the Supreme Court and our elected officials. We stand together as working people to secure our future and in solidarity with all workers that could be impacted by the court's ruling.

Sharp Professional Nurses Network (SPNN) RN Jay O'Brien addressed the San Diego crowd, "The only effective way to fight organized greed is organized labor."
