On March 20, the Murrieta Firefighters, Local 3540, brought together members of the community who support the Inland Valley and Rancho Springs RNs in protecting patient and nurse safety at our hospitals. Here are some highlights of the evening:

"Where there is silence, let us be the voice. Grant us the courage to get involved. It is in confronting injustice that we can achieve justice."

—Invocation by Father Joe Tronco St. Matthew Ecumenical Catholic Church

"You have a voice as to what happens in that hospital. That’s what being a union is all about. Stand together, stand strong, and don’t let anything scare you. We are here for you. We need your voice."

—Dean Hale, President Murrieta Firefighters, Local 3540

"It has made us better teachers to be in a union. It helps us to be more professional, and it makes us stronger. It will help you to advocate for patient care. It will make you better nurses."

—Chris Lindberg, President Temecula Valley Teachers Association

"UNAC/UHCP is a union that looks first and foremost at patient care and conditions for the employees. You’re on the right side of the fight for patient care and nurse safety. We are there for you in your struggle."

—Pam Brodersen, RN, 37 Years UNAC/UHCP Secretary/Treasurer

"Being a nurse is who we are, not just what we do. So it’s nice to know we’re not alone. We’re part of a union community."

—Amanda Joy, RN, Women’s Center, 5 Years

"I’m here to support the nurses any way I can."

—Nancy Nuñez, RN, Women’s Center, 15 Years
