AFFILIATE OFFICER ELECTION RESULTS
UPSC STAFF REPRESENTATIVE HIRED
CONTRACT SPECIALISTS BEGIN THEIR ROLES

Dear Professional Colleague,

Affiliate Officer election ballots were counted last evening. I am pleased to announce the following results: Daniel Szeto, Los Angeles, was elected Treasurer; Gary Laird, San Diego, was elected Vice President, Outpatient; Houry Abajian, Woodland Hills, was elected Vice President, Inpatient; John Pok, MOPC Downey, was elected Vice President, MOPC/CRP; and Zdenka Manthei, Riverside, was elected Steward Coordinator, South. No Steward Coordinator, North nominations were received and no election was conducted. This office will remain open until the new Affiliate Officers appoint a pharmacist to assume this role.

In addition to your Affiliate Officers, I am very happy to announce that Sheri Gotanda, Downey, has accepted a full-time UPSC Staff Representative position with us and started her new job yesterday, Monday, January 4. We will be adding a second full-time Staff Representative sometime in the early spring.

And finally, Gary Laird, San Diego and Daniel Szeto, Los Angeles, will serve as the first two UPSC Contract Specialists. Contract Specialists work half-time for the union to resolve member issues, provide member education, and enforce the contract. The Contract Specialist role is a one year term provided for by the National Agreement.
