Update from Your PRNA President

August 2015

August 13, 2015

Dear PRNA Member,

Your PRNA Officers and I have accepted the resignation of Judy Vargas, RN, as PRNA Treasurer. Judy will remain a vital part of the PRNA team and will function as an Association Representative in the ICU Department. We ask you to stand together with your PRNA Officers to thank Judy for her tireless service and dedication to our Union and to valued members such as yourself.

The PRNA Constitution directs the process when a Union Officer vacates their position. The PRNA Executive Board shall appoint a qualified member in good standing to fill the vacated office.

Therefore, it is my pleasure to announce that the PRNA Executive Board has appointed Vernon Russell, RN Case Manager, to the position of PRNA Treasurer. Vernon brings Union experience and new perspective to our PRNA team. Please join us in welcoming Vernon as the new PRNA Treasurer.

Continued growth and development of PRNA members, contract education, and a strong stewardship are vital to the success of our Union. In order for us to grow, we must have strong leadership. Please also join me in welcoming Megan Joyce, RN, as the new PRNA Chief Steward. As the Chief Steward, Megan will be working closely with myself and the PRNA Officers to build and grow a solid Union member structure here at Parkview.

PRNA is your Union and as your President, I encourage you to get involved, participate in Union events, and learn more about the great benefits of having a Union contract. If you have questions or concerns you would like to share, please contact myself or another PRNA Officer for assistance. We are here for you.

In Solidarity,

Viera Daniels, RN
PRNA President
