UNAC/UHCP Visits Congresswoman Walters
March 2017
Let's Strengthen Health Care, Not Weaken It
Dear Members:
In the past few weeks, UNAC/UHCP members and the labor community have been following events around repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Some of us have attended town halls, made visits to local elected officials, offered our stories on the possible impact to our patients and loved ones, and signed petitions. It is now time to come together as a union to voice our concerns and advocate to strengthen our current health care system, not weaken it.
Earlier today, a delegation of UNAC/UHCP members visited the office of Orange County Congresswoman Mimi Walters to deliver a petition expressing our concerns and calling on her to protect access to quality, affordable health care for our patients and loved ones. The delegation included UNAC/UHCP members who live and work in Congresswoman Walters’ district, along with other OC members, joined by UNAC/UHCP Treasurer Jettie Deden-Castillo, NP. This was just the beginning of our union-wide, joint effort to make our voices heard.
We’re going to load up some buses for our next visits to congress members. Plan to join us and get on the bus March 17!
HOLD THE DATE TO GET ON THE BUS
March 17: Bus to Riverside Congressional Office
March 17: Bus to San Diego Congressional Office
We must do everything possible to protect our patients, our jobs and our hospitals. Join us for our next actions!
In solidarity,
Denise Duncan, RN
President, UNAC/UHCP
