STATEMENT: UNAC/UHCP President Denise Duncan on Dialysis Stakeholder Meeting in Sacramento

November 2017

LOS ANGELES, CA — UNAC/UHCP President Denise Duncan, RN, issued the following statement on the stakeholders meeting held today in Sacramento to discuss SB 349, the Dialysis Patient Safety Act:

"Dialysis stakeholders met today in Sacramento to talk about the Dialysis Patient Safety Act, or SB 349. UNAC/UHCP continues to push for transformation in dialysis according to the three-point vision developed by dialysis caregivers: the best care by the best caregivers, the best standards of care enforced by law, with patient health and safety valued over corporate profits.

As UNAC/UHCP’s experience winning safe RN staffing ratios in California hospitals shows, the most important move dialysis caregivers can make to win the changes we seek is to all join together in a union. This will give us the strong power base we need to push real change.
