What is a Steward?

Stewards are working nurses, trained to understand the contract and the rights of his or her fellow nurses.  The steward is trained to successfully organize collective actions, to enforce the contract, and to represent and counsel nurses facing discipline.

Stewards are essential: they are leaders that represent the union on the job. Our goal is to have a steward on every shift and every unit.  A strong network of stewards will make our union powerful.

Become a Steward!

All RNs deserve well-informed and confident representation. You will complete a training program before you are asked to be the representative in a disciplinary meeting. We offer training sessions and additional classes throughout the year.
