SPNN Bargaining Update: September 21, 2011

September 2011

At Thursday’s RN bargaining session, management responded to the Union’s wage proposal. Management's proposal fell far short of providing RNs with the recognition we have earned through our skills, experience and dedication to Sharp.

BE AT BARGAINING…
At Thursday’s bargaining, RNs from all different facilities who attended bargaining spoke up about how management’s proposal does nothing to address the exodus of RNs who are leaving for hospitals that provide better wage standards and benefits.

RNs spoke of the loss of many experienced ICU RNs at Grossmont who left for better positions at other competing hospitals. By not being competitive in wages and benefits, Sharp risks the defection of RNs to other facilities; such as Scripps, which opened a LVAD Program, and UCSD which opened a new cardio vascular center. Both of these facilities are now recruiting Sharp RNs.
