ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW OFFICERS

On Thursday, July 13, the Sharp Professional Nurses Network (SPNN) Executive Board voted to fill three vacant officer positions.


JAY O’BRIEN ASSUMES SPNN PRESIDENT ROLE
The SPNN Executive Board selected Jay O’Brien, RN, as the SPNN President until the next scheduled affiliate election cycle in November 2017. Jay was a member of the 2016 bargaining team and has been the SPNN Chair at Memorial/OPP since the beginning of negotiations last July. He has been an RN and nurses' union member for 15 years. Prior to coming to Sharp in 2009, Jay worked at the University of Washington Medical Center as an Acute Care House Float. He currently works at Sharp Memorial on 4W (Trauma/Neuro PCU).

Former SPNN President Christina Magnusen, RN, has taken a position at another hospital and no longer works for Sharp HealthCare.

SHERRI SCOTT-VASQUEZ, NEW SPNN MARY BIRCH CO-CHAIR
Sherri Scott-Vasquez has been an RN for 20 years and at Mary Birch since 1999. She has worked in Labor & Delivery and currently works in Surgical Services. Sherri previously served on the Financial Control Committee and as a Quality Liaison (QL) for SPNN.

GINA SCHOOLER, NEW SPNN MEMORIAL CO-CHAIR
Gina Schooler, RN, CCRN, is an Advanced Clinician (AC) on Sharp Memorial's Rapid Response Team (RRT) on night shift. She has been a Critical Care RN for 7 years and also served in the US Navy Nurse Corps.
