Sharp Mary Birch RNs Fight for Pay for Mandatory Training and Win
March 2015
Several RNs at Mary Birch were denied pay for off-duty mandatory mock code and CPR training, even though the RNs came in on their time off. Mary Birch Union leaders learned of the inequities, filed a grievance, and RNs were paid for the training.
“It just didn’t seem right that we would do the work, but not get paid. UNAC/UHCP made sure I got paid. I joined UNAC/UHCP to make sure the Union stays strong to protect our rights.” - Theresa Hurst, RN, Mary Birch L&D
