Bargaining Team Presents New Proposals: Professional Practice Standards & Delivery of Safe Outstanding Care
On Tuesday, SFRNA Bargaining Team members presented a new proposal to address the various staffing concerns raised by members. Bargaining Team members spoke up about our ability to deliver safe, quality care.
Rosa Carcamo ER RN, told Management, “The ER Department as a whole has major staffing issues, including lack of Management support and resources in the department to deal with our patient acuity.”
Scott Byington, MAP RN, shared with Management that “the staffing ratios that were proposed today by our bargaining team, if implemented, will allow us to safely take care of patients according to SFMC Vincentian values.”
Edwin Guardado, RN, Telemetry, stated, “Management’s actions are sometimes inconsistent in addressing ongoing patient and staffing issues in the Telemetry units.”
Janice Fraser RN, ICU, explained, “the ICU nurse often has too many critical patients with the transfer of surgical patients into the unit.”
Marilen Castanon RN, ICU, told Management that we need “a contract that provides adequate patient safety when floating without putting an RN’s license at risk.”
Virginia McCoy, Case Manager, voiced her concern regarding “timely discharge, transfer of patients, charting for re-imbursements and excessive workloads that lead to backlogs.”
Sandi Marques, RN, President, SFRNA, presented our proposal on professional practice standards and delivery of safe, outstanding care. You can view our proposal here [Power Point].
