Negotiations Break Down

Significant Trust Issues Resurface

Yesterday we made substantial progress toward completing a new five year contract. After hours of talks, nearly all open issues were resolved and tentatively agreed to. Before the parties had time to modify, review and sign the tentative agreements, Prime Healthcare violated a significant concession on our part – that we would take a neutral position on the sale. Before the ink was dry, Prime issued a press release stating the only SEIU-UHW now opposed the sale, even though our tentative agreement required member ratification before making any public announcement. Your negotiating team left the table, and refused to move forward until this issue is addressed. The next bargaining date will be announced soon. We need everyone to continue to attend and show your support.
