SFRNA Announcement: Reduction in Force at SFMC

March 2016

St. Francis Registered Nurses Association (SFRNA) leadership has confirmed that St. Francis Medical Center (SFMC) will be issuing a reduction in force or layoff. At this time it affects non-union and SEIU associates.

Although the reduction in force does not directly affect SFRNA RNs, it does impact us negatively. As demonstrated by the number of signatures on the safe staffing petition we recently submitted to management and the increase in staffing objections related to support staff services, safe staffing is an issue at SFMC.

Our collective bargaining agreement provides protective language for notification and the method of conducting a reduction in force. Please refer to Article 10, paragraphs 1010-1027.

If you have any questions, please contact an SFRNA officer or UNAC/UHCP staff representative.

In solidarity,

Scott Byington, SFRNA President
Edwin Guardado, SFRNA Vice President
Marlene Castanon, SFRNA Treasurer
Rosa Carcamo, SFRNA Secretary
Sandi Marques, UNAC/UHCP Staff Representative for SFRNA
