Senate HELP Committee to Take up Health Care Reform in September

The Senate is expected to take up the health care reform in the HELP committee the week of September 4.

As nurses and health care professionals, we know cutting access to health care means delayed diagnosis and treatment, which can be deadly. Over four million Californians gained access to health care under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and their access to care is now at risk.

At least six states with GOP governors— Arkansas, Kentucky, Arizona, Maine, Wisconsin and Indiana — have already drafted plans meant to introduce new rules people would have to meet to be eligible for Medicaid, which provides healthcare to low-income Americans and those with certain disabilities.
