CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON
The 2014 UNAC/UHCP retiree holiday luncheon was a resounding success. Our celebration was held December 9, 2014, at the Cedar Creek Inn in San Clemente. Member turnout was high and we enjoyed good food, a great raffle, and great door prizes. Our thanks to Executive Board members Donna Smith and Becky Motlagh for the hard work they put into coordinating this event. A great time was had by all!
AFSCME UPDATE
Steve Francy, our AFSCME International representative, has resigned. He helped us to form our chapter, to create our Constitution, and to get us up-and-running. Steve will be missed. AFSCME is currently reorganizing their Retiree department and have established a new Field Manager, new Retiree Communications Manager, and new Retiree Field Assistant. AFSCME is also recruiting Retiree Field Organizers for the Central, South, and Western Regions. We look forward to working with our new AFSCME Field Organizer.
2015 MEMBERSHIP DUES
Annual membership renewal dues, (January 2015 - December 2015), are due by March 30, 2015. Billing notices are currently in the mail. Your $20.00 dues payment must be received by the deadline to remain a member in good standing. Dues payments not received by the deadline will result in your being dropped from the retiree council membership list.
PHILANTHROPIC ACTIVITIES
The Retiree Council Executive Board spent part of their recent meeting discussing activities we can participate in which would be helpful to others. We will keep you posted in the next few months as we determine what activity we will pursue.
REMEMBERING DELIMA MACDONALD
The UNAC/UHCP family has lost a piece of our heart with the passing of much loved former UNAC/UHCP Treasurer Delima MacDonald. Delima served as the Retiree Council Treasurer until the January 2015 meeting of our Executive Board. She was for all who knew her a force of life. Famous for her quick wit and keen sense of adventure, when Delima first started working at UNAC/UHCP, she not only kept nursing full time, but also continued motorcycle racing. Until a new Retiree Council Treasurer is appointed, day-to-day financial activities currently are being processed by President Sonia Moseley and Finance Committee member Kathy Sackman. We will send out information about a memorial for Delima as soon as we have it.
