Pharmacists Ratify First Contract

October 2015

Three months and two days after beginning negotiations, and after three intense bargaining sessions in the final week, including a 36-hour marathon session that ended at 5 pm on August 7, the pharmacist negotiations team completed an entire tentative agreement. Forty three days later, after 16 ratification meetings throughout Southern California, pharmacists voted overwhelmingly to ratify their first contract as UNAC/UHCP members.

The pharmacists on the negotiations team accomplished so much over three months. The team’s most important goal was met in June when their pensions were restored at Kaiser National Bargaining with the Coalition unions standing behind their efforts. Since then, the negotiations team secured a number of improvements towards their first collective bargaining agreement as UNAC/UHCP members.

The negotiations team’s dedication and hard work on behalf of all Southern California Kaiser pharmacists is nothing short of amazing. Congratulations to the pharmacists!

“The ratification of this contract reflects the tireless effort, leadership and unwavering commitment of UNAC/UHCP and our negotiations committee team. I am very grateful!” —Leigh Ann Nguyen, West LA
