Patient Safety Message Delivered at Parkview

September 2014

In three days of our Parkview RN strike and in the weeks since, we sent a powerful message to CEO Steve Popkin that he should listen to Parkview RNs when it comes to patient care.

Hundreds of people walked the picket lines over three hot days: Parkview RNs; their hospital coworkers from SEIU-UHW; members of other UNAC/UHCP affiliates and other unions; family members; community leaders and elected officials.

ABC Channel 7 interviewed a UNAC/UHCP RN. Telemundo interviewed Judy Vargas, RN. The Riverside Press-Enterprise covered the strike. Our Facebook page and Twitter feeds kept people updated with dozens of photos and comments.

PRNA members voted overwhelmingly to strike after they had enough of CEO Popkinā€™s disregard for nurses and patient care during bargaining. UNAC/UHCP also filed multiple Unfair Labor Practice charges against the hospital with the National Labor Relations Board.
