Members Score Big At Garden Grove
January 2015
Three big grievance victories for the Garden Grove Registered Nurses Association! Once the arbitrators were selected, the union and the employer were able to reach a settlement agreement to the members’ great satisfaction. In the first case, the union contended that a RN was issued a final written warning and three day unpaid suspension months after the underlying patient incident occurred without just cause. The settlement was able to reduce it to a written warning with back pay for two of the days. In the second case, the union contended that another RN was issued a final written warning without just cause. The settlement reduced this case to a written warning. The third case involved a RN that had been improperly cancelled for a shift. Hospital policy dictated she should have been floated to a sister unit. The employer in this case has agreed to compensate her for the missed 12 hours of that shift.
