PRESS RELEASE: Corona Nurses Urge Hospital Administrators to Proceed Slowly with EHR Implementation

Corona Regional Medical Center will implement a paperless record system on June 2. This complicated health care IT system will be put in place despite urgent calls by the Corona nurses to provide additional training so that patients will not be at risk. Nurses at Corona mailed and faxed a letter to the Interim Chief Nursing Officer Sheila Martin on May 31, urging the hospital to delay the implementation so that patient safety is not at risk.

Registered Nurses at Montebello’s Beverly Hospital joined together Thursday night holding candles on the street outside the hospital to call attention to practices that have lowered the standard of care in the hospital. “We’re nurses,” said Veronica Arellano, Telemetry R.N. “Every day we walk through the doors of Beverly Hospital, we bring the desire to ease pain, to help heal, and to provide top-notch care. But we can’t do that, because management won’t do the right thing.”
