Making Progress at Fountain Valley
March 2013
Despite a rocky start, much has been accomplished in Fountain Valley bargaining. Agreement has been reached on Union representation; seniority; harassment; grievance and arbitration; performance improvement and discipline; floating; and holidays. In each of these articles improvements were made in expanding and protecting members’ rights.
However, bargaining continues to be a slow process. With great member turnout, when there are lulls in the negotiation process, the bargaining team and Fountain Valley Professional Association members are able to review proposals. At the February 13-14 bargaining sessions, for instance, members reviewed existing wage proposals and discussed how to develop a wage proposal that recognizes RN and professional license experience.
