Officer Candidate Biographies

Gabriel De Souza, RN

For KWHRNA Hospital Vice President

I have been working at Kaiser Permanente for 10 years. I started as an LVN in the GI lab where I worked for 8 years. In 2010 I graduated with my RN degree and transferred to the Telemetry/Neuro department. I currently hold my Bachelor’s degree in nursing and looking forward to obtaining my Master’s degree.

I have been involved with UNAC since I started my RN position. I became an activist to help develop a safe, fair work environment for our members. In 2013, I became the KWHRNA Contract Specialist. As a Contract Specialist, I had the opportunity to get involved in committees, investigations, grievances, and developing programs.

Furthermore, I became the Contract Specialist during a very difficult time. Kaiser Permanente laid off our members ignoring the contract and seniority. I was able to get involved in the various activities to fight for our rights. As of now, we have placed all the displaced members of our affiliate in new positions.

Finally, I love to volunteer in community out reach activities. I have attended various health fairs, Cancer awareness activities, and support activities for our Union partners.

As the Hospital Vice-President and a Union activist, I will go above and beyond to make a difference. Finally, I will be there for the members when they need it the most.
