Corona RNs Win Restoration of Pediatrics Unit But Protest Layoffs

After Corona RNs and community allies like the local PTA chapters raised an outcry over closure of the Pediatrics Unit at Corona Regional Medical Center, the hospital has bowed to public pressure and agreed to reopen the unit.

Unfortunately, at the same time the hospital once again made major changes without input from the RNs when they laid off a group of LVNs and CNAs.

“Bedside nurses are the backbone of patient care at any hospital,” said Ken Deitz, RN, UNAC/UHCP President. “Major decisions about patient care like this one should never be imposed on nurses without consulting them.”
