Convention Update: Continuing Education with Troy Seagondollar, RN-BC, MSN

Troy Seagondollar, RN-BC, MSN, UNAC/UHCP Registered Nurses Technology Liaison, provided a continuing education class on the meaningful use of electronic health records. Troy covered a history of electronic medical health records in the United States, existing medical record management tools and expectations for Registered Nurses as the information brokers for their patients. Troy instructed on the core requirements for records administration based on meaningful use criteria ascribed by the Office of the National Coordinator on Health Information Technology, including scope of practice issues UNAC/UHCP nurses experience as health care practitioners. Many members packed the room, seeking to increase their understanding of how patient information is handled and how that information can be used to improve patient care.
