Chino RNs & Management Reach Multiple Agreements at Bargaining
June 2012
Bargaining Update #3: June 15, 2012
The Chino RN Bargaining Team met with CVMC management this week to discuss seniority, job bidding, evaluations, discipline, union rights, job security and other issues.
We reached agreement on eleven separate items, including:
Union Recognition
- After 2 years of a legal battle, Prime has finally recognized UNAC/UHCP as the bargaining representative for all Registered Nurses at CVMC. This agreement means that Prime Healthcare must negotiate with us on improvements to pay and other terms and conditions of employment (e.g. working hours, holidays, training and development, benefits and job security).
- The agreement lets us organize ourselves and build our union strength, to improve our working lives and patient care at CVMC.
Grievance and Arbitration Procedure
- One of the most important benefits we have as union members is the right to grievance and arbitration. In cases where you feel your rights under the contract have been violated or you feel you have been unjustly treated, you have the right to professional representation and protection.
- In cases where the union and management cannot agree on a resolution to a dispute, RNs can take the issue to arbitration. This means the final decision will be made by a neutral individual who is not affiliated with either the employer or the union.
