CA Attorney General Holds Hearing on St. Francis Sale

On January 5, nurses from St. Francis Medical Center joined community members at a public hearing held by California Attorney General Kamala Harris regarding the sale of our hospital. St. Francis Registered Nurses Association (SFRNA) Treasurer Marlene Castonan, RN, was featured in a piece about the hearing on KPCC. Click here to listen.

A huge number of St. Francis nurses, including the bargaining team from our recent contract negotiations, attended a pre-hearing rally and testified at the hearing in opposition to the sale of St. Francis Medical Center to Prime Healthcare Services.

On January 6, our SFRNA leadership went to the public hearing at St. Vincent's to oppose the sale. Our SFRNA officers will also represent us at public hearings in Northern California to be held on January 8-9. The California Attorney General is expected to render a decision by February 6.
