An Open Letter From Your Fellow Chino RNs

June 2012

Dear Colleagues,

Next Wednesday and Thursday we begin a series of RN only meetings to discuss wages, benefits and patient care.

These RN only meetings are in addition to the negotiation meetings. All RNs are encouraged to attend negotiations as well, if they cannot attend the special RN meetings. The input you provide will be used to develop our proposals on these very issues.

We have great news! Chino management has confirmed and agreed that Union literature (like the hard copy of this letter!) can be distributed and used in our break rooms. Last week we learned that some Chino managers told some RNs that they could not have Union literature in the break rooms. That is a violation of federal labor law, especially since we have always had the right to post photos, invitations, sale items, fundraising leaflets, etc.

The federal law says that management cannot discriminate against the Union. The RN Bargaining Team raised this issue, provided extensive information, and were able to work with Chino management to successfully resolve this issue.

You are now absolutely free to bring Union literature into the break rooms and discuss the issues on your break with your colleagues.

By joining together and working together we can make Chino better for everyone. We hope that each of you will make the time to come to the meetings so we can hear from you about wages, benefits and patient care.

Sincerely,

Your Chino RN Bargaining Team:

Shana Marquez (OR RN), Mary Ruth Medina (ER RN), Lisa Metheny (Tele RN), Pauline Stubbs (M/S RN), Cindy Tasker (ICU RN)
