Affiliates

UNAC/UHCP is democracy in action.

Each medical facility is an autonomous affiliate with its own constitution. Union members at each facility elect their own officers and negotiate their own contracts.

Union members have a voice in setting the policies for our union. Every other year, each affiliate elects delegates to our state organization’s Constitutional Convention. At the convention, delegates elect state officers for four-year terms, review the budget, and can amend the state constitution. Delegates at the convention also elect seven members to our Board of Directors.

Each affiliate elects one delegate to serve on our Executive Council. When the convention is not in session, members of the Executive Council and Board of Directors are responsible for the budget and policy decisions affecting the organization.

Our union’s ability to improve patient care at our workplaces and strengthen our voice in the workplace comes from our members’ active participation and leadership.
