A Message From the Bargaining Team

April 2013

Dear FVPA Members:

We are embarking on a historic, groundbreaking effort in bargaining right now. We have proposed the first-ever wage grid at Fountain Valley.

What is a wage grid? Wage grids are designed to reward professional experience, and have become standard practice in the healthcare industry. The wage grid we have proposed would result in raises for all of us that range from a minimum of 9.27% to a maximum of 19.1% over the life of a three year contract.

Negotiations have gone well so far this year. We've made notable improvements already, including to seniority. The tone has been mutually respectful, and management seems willing to engage with us on the subject of the wage grid. We have exchanged information and management is costing our proposal in order to make their response. But we need a historic push to take this groundbreaking step forward!

It is critical that every member understands how wage grids work and the status of negotiations. We will hold a series of special General Membership Meetings on April 11 and April 19 to provide you with a presentation on what's at stake.

General Membership Meetings: April 11 & 19
Cardiac Classroom: 11160 Warner Ave., Suite 115
Anytime between 7AM and 2PM

Our bargaining team and chief negotiator will be there to review our proposals.

It's also important that you plan to attend the next bargaining session on April 23, where we expect management's response to our proposal. Sign up here to attend bargaining in April.

Come to the meetings in April! See what you stand to gain with a wage grid and how this historic proposal will advance the professional practice of all of us.
