General Membership Meeting Report

July 2011

On June 30th, 2011, the Kaiser Baldwin Park Registered Nurses Association conducted their quarterly general membership meeting. Local officers presented the history of AFSCME, and gave a summary of what they learned at the UNA conference and AAOC (Annual Affiliate Officers Conference).  Other topics presented to membership include political action, effective representation, association grievances, and regional grievances.  Also, the onewisconsin.org video was shown, and lunch was provided.

At the meeting, people cards were collected, serving as a reflection of the convivial atmosphere of the meeting; over one hundred people came throughout the day and a powerpoint presentation was shown, a first for the quarterly general membership meetings.

Due to the immense success of the meeting and its informative nature, many members expressed a desire to become more involved. The next meeting will be held on September 28th, 2011 from 11am to 3pm in B 14.
